Can Customers Come To Sheepskin Tailors?
The simple answer is yes. You are more than welcome to come to us for your custom made sheepskin car seat covers. We primarily service the whole of Australia via mail order.

For the last 10 years, we have been situated in Allendale East, South Australia, located 22kms south of Mount Gambier which is about a 15 minute drive and 6 kms north of Post MacDonnell (less than a 5 minute drive to the beach). For the previous 10 years we were located in Rosebud on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria.
Customers choose to come to us as they would prefer the convenience of us fitting their covers for them. Others may have a rare car that we don’t have the pattern for and we may not be able to source the pattern locally.
We have people come to us from all over Australia, some travelling in their motor homes for seat covers while others take the trip to explore our beautiful town and at the same time get their tailor made car seat covers.
What happens when you come to us?
You can come and have a look at the sheepskins before they are cut and made into your seat covers. We can lay some sheepskins in your car interior so you can have an idea of colours.
If your car is rare and we need to make a pattern, we will take 15 to 20 minutes to make the pattern of your seat.
In the meantime, you can go off and explore the surrounds of Mount Gambier.
We will call you when your covers are finished and make a time for you to come back to us so we can fit your sheepskin car seat covers.
Mount Gambier has some amazing cafes, restaurants and shopping and we will always recommend our favourites. If you are in need of accommodation we can also make some recommendations whether it’s a caravan park or unit.
What does Mount Gambier have for you to do?
Mount Gambier is a thriving town with a population of about 30,000 and is known for craters, lakes and sink holes. It is the second most populated town in South Australia. Many places in Mount Gambier are State Heritage listed.
Mount Gambier is particularly known for The Blue Lake which is an extinct volcano crater. From November to February the water changes colour to a vivid Cobolt blue. You can walk around The Blue Lake on a concrete path where there are many photo opportunities at viewing platforms. The walk itself is an easy 3.6 kms walk.
The Main Corner in Mount Gambier houses the Riddoch Gallery which has a variety of exhibitions and multimedia displays about the history of Mount Gambier. The main corner is surrounded by cafes and shopping located in the centre of town on the corner of Bay Rd and Commercial St.
The Cave Gardens are in the centre of town and located next to the main corner. It is a 90 feet deep sinkhole and was an early water source for the early settlers. In wet weather it turns into a beautiful waterfall. The surrounds have a beautiful rose garden and manicured lawns which is a perfect place to sit with a coffee and treat from one of the local cafes. In the evenings there is a light show about Aboriginal dreamtime stories projected onto the walls of the surrounding buildings.
Umpherston Sink Hole is a sink hole that has been transformed into an amazing sunken garden dating back to 1866. There are viewing platforms at the top where you can walk down into the gardens. At dusk you can feed the possums some fresh fruit. This is worth a visit day and night.
Centenery Tower was built in 1904 and is 190 meters above sea level. It is the tallest point in Mount Gambier and offers 360 degree views of the landscape. On a clear day you can see all the way to Port MacDonnell. Open to the public when the flag is flying with a small souvenir shop.
Valley Lake sits at the bottom of Centenery Tower and has a huge childrens playground on the foreshore of the lake with BBQ’S and sporting facilities. There is a wildlife park which is home to kangaroos, koalas, echidna and more. The area also has great bird life.
Mount Shank is on Riddoch Hwy and is in between Mount Gambier and Port MacDonnell, it is a 100 meter high dormant volcano. A great walk on a calm day and is about a 2kms walk around the rim.
Port MacDonnell is the southern-most town in South Australia and has excellent fishing. It’s also known as Australia’s Southern Rock Lobster capital, there are many walks and beaches to explore.
